Avril Mendel

Avril is a qualified commissioner, planner and manager of services with experience of supported employment, community development, self-advocacy, project management, grant bidding and monitoring within the statutory and voluntary sector.

She has a wide range of experience implementing policy to deliver and support people to achieve the outcomes they are looking for, by involving professionals, employers, service users, family carers and community stakeholders at local and national levels.

Avril has supported people with disabilities into real jobs to fulfil their employment aspirations and achieve social and economic inclusion, by building partnerships with employers and developing and facilitating a local Employer Network.

Avril is also involved in national training around Access to Work funding that provides disabled people with job coach support ensuring success and development of a good career path and offers support in relation to getting funding. She has also been involved in developing supported internships and traineeships to ensure that the young people get good careers after their internships and that they and their employers have ongoing support.

Avril works with individuals, families, businesses, councils, colleges and schools, voluntary and charitable organisations across the country with the focus on the individual achievement of secure work and careers for disabled people.
