Change that leads to better lives

Kathy Slinn, Associate

Kathy Slinn

Kathy is a skilled and experienced service manager, advocate and community worker. Kathy uses her passion for social justice and community led change to help organisations and policy makers develop better practice, find new perspectives and respond to our changing and challenging world.

Kathy has worked in independent Advocacy for 20 years, developing her practice as the Mental Capacity Act was enacted and taking on the new statutory roles created by it. Kathy has spent many years working directly with community groups supporting them to develop their voices, skills and power as they challenge public services and petition for equality and social change.

As a leader, Kathy has mentored professionals within advocacy services to develop their practice and further their careers. She has worked extensively with professionals from other services who seek to shift the culture of policy and decision making to one of meaningful community collaboration and power sharing.

Kathy has taken on various voluntary roles over the years including School Governor, Playschool Trustee, Independent Advocate for Traveller communities and refugee-aid warehouse worker.
