Change that leads to better lives

Changing Disability Services in Turkey

Commissioned by the World Health Organisation in a project jointly funded by the European Community and the Turkish Government, NDTi worked on an evaluation of the Home Based Care Service which offers financial support to 400,000 disabled people and their families.

This Service is expanding rapidly and the evaluation, which took place between December 2012 and October 2013, looked at how well this approach combines the intention to offer financial support to disabled people who qualify for the Government support, an acknowledgement of the contribution of family carers and effective ways of supporting disabled people to get a 'good life'.

The work included a series of workshops for Central Government, Provincial Government and NGOs and led on to providing a range of training for staff involved in delivering this Service.
