Change that leads to better lives

Meet our supported intern

To mark National Supported Internships Day on 27 March we thought we'd introduce you to our intern Malina.

Malina has been on placement with us for three months, working within the Children and Young People's team and Research and Evaluation team. It's been fantastic to have her on board.

Malina says: "I've really enjoyed all of my work placement with NDTi. A highlight was the opportunity to travel to London to meet more people from across the organisation.

"The work at NDTi is very thought provoking and it strongly helped with my own creativity, expression and developing many skills.

"With the Children and Young People's team I have had the opportunity to create and share presentations with others. I have also helped with constructing personal profiles for others allowing me to get to know different team members.

"There have been a couple of challenges, for example learning my way around Microsoft Excel and it’s mechanics! Another challenge was in my first couple of weeks. The office I was based in was going through a move featuring a lot of packing, stray cables, electronics and printers, but has been a great way to be able to meet new members of the team.

"With the Research and Evaluation Team, I made documents accessible in Easy Read using PhotoSymbols for people who may struggle with standard documents. For example, a presentation that needed to be fun and engaging while sharing our findings."

National Supported Internships Day is an annual celebration of supported internships across the UK. It's led by our partner DFN Project SEARCH. We're working with them and the British Association for Supported Employment (BASE) to deliver Internships Work, a programme which will double the number of supported internships in England by 2025.
