Building confidence and independence for the real world

So much of the focus on education in SEN is on ‘outcomes’, with practical, real-world training often only considered later on.

In the Saturday opening keynote discussion, hear from a panel of SEND advocates on how to create a holistic approach to build confidence, work towards independence and enhance employability skills for young adults with SEND.

The keynote will be delivered by Rosa Monckton, Founder and Chairman of Team Domenica, who will share how, at Team Domenica, they advocate for a holistic approach combining education with enrichment sessions, work placements, supported internships and work in their cafes builds confidence and independence skills which can help lead to paid employment. Their in-house work experience is hands-on, real, and public-facing. Their aim is to place their candidates at the heart of the community, which is, after all, where they belong.

Rosa will be joined by a panel of policy influencers and SEND advocates to continue the discussion - don't forget to send in your questions for the panel.

Panelists include:

Jane Friswell, SEND Consultant & Parent Advocate, Jane Friswell SEND Consultancy
Julie Pointer, Children and Young People Lead, National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi)
Beverley Walters, Head of Content, TES SEN Show
