We know that many autistic people and people with a learning disability are unlikely to thrive in hospital. At NDTi, we believe that good quality community support is needed to keep people well and cared for at home. We continue to hear about people experiencing poor care and support, being subjected to abusive practice, and dying in hospitals. We believe that wider system change is needed but will take time to implement. Therefore, we will continue to support people’s views and voices to be heard by independent teams until this change takes place.
