Supported Internships webinar
Friday 24th November, 10.00-11.00
Supported Internships are personalised study programmes based primarily at an employer’s premises. They are designed to better enable young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for the workplace. For the young person, the internship should contribute to their long-term career goals. For the employer, the internship must meet a real business need, with the potential of a paid job at the end of the programme of study, should the intern meet the required standard.
This webinar will be run by Kathy Melling and will:
- provide an overview of what good-quality Supported Internship provision can offer young people with SEND, providing examples
- support people to develop a shared understanding so that families understand what good looks like
- highlight the critical success factors to ensure the number of people who leave education with jobs and sustainable careers is maximised
- provide practical tips for those developing provision and outline the key considerations for planning
Who should attend?
Schools, colleges and training providers; supported employment providers; LA commissioners; families; and employers.
