We are working with the Motability Foundation to find out how two programmes are helping disabled people to make the journeys they choose and to feel more confident about these.
- The Active Travel programme supports projects that help people move around by walking, cycling, or using a wheelchair.
- The Travelling with Confidence programme helps people feel more confident when travelling, by offering training and clear, accessible travel information.
Our evaluation is covering 2022 – 2025, and is looking at how useful the programmes have been. We’re asking questions like:
- How did the programmes make a difference?
- Were they good value for money?
- What worked well, and what could be better?
To answer these questions, NDTi is using a method called Outcome Harvesting. This means we’re collecting stories and facts from different sources to understand the real impact of the programmes. We’re working closely with disabled people, who guide the research and make sure it’s fair and inclusive.
We’re doing things like:
- Talking to people in interviews and focus groups
- Running workshops to reflect and check findings
- Sending out surveys to hear from more disabled people
At the end of our evaluation, we will write reports and stories that show how these programmes are making a difference in people’s lives, and what steps the Motability Foundation can take to improve and enhance their support.
