This online session took place during NDTi’s Inclusive Education Festival, 15-19 March 2021. During the week, there were eight sessions to showcase great stories where inclusion really works and what needs to happen to ensure a more inclusive society.
Chaired by Barry Jones, in this session we hear from:
- Diane Janseen & Eleanor Newstead, Bedazzle. Diane and Eleanor share how the organisation has grown to offer bespoke education and community theatre across Cambridge and beyond. They run a foundation theatre programme that is an inclusive professional programme with a focus on providing pathways into employment in the theatre industry. Their inclusive theatre company aims to forefront disabled and autistic artists, and they also run an inclusive talent agency, iNCLUSIVE TALENT. During the pandemic, Bedazzled have been able to open out their theatre opportunities to many more performers and look forward to when they can take some of their production back on the road again.
- Colin Newton & Elliot Newton, Inclusive Solutions. For 18 years since Inclusive Solutions was founded, they have offered a range of inspiring inclusion-oriented services including casework, person centred planning, innovative training and community building. Colin and Elliot speak about how they support inclusive education and share some tips from their Inclusive Solutions School. Elliot’s graphic which sums up the session can be viewed here.
