Last weekend saw a very vocal group of people take to the streets of London. In other cities angry groups have protested outside hotels housing some extremely vulnerable people.
These voices, in common with those in other countries, make arguments based on misinformation and often seek to use fear to intimidate and divide.
We know from evidence, from our work and from the experiences gathered in living our lives that open, welcoming and inclusive societies that seek and see the contributions of all their members are those which thrive.
NDTi does not just use the word ‘inclusion’ but we seek through our work and actions to make it meaningful and real. Too often those who take to streets and demonstrate fail to give space to listen to people, to hear voices that are not theirs and to be open to challenge.
Across our thirty-year history, NDTi has always stood for inclusion and stood up to exclusion. We are using this AGM to reaffirm NDTi’s commitment to informing and building a more inclusive society.
We also call on our national leaders to have a louder and prouder voice for inclusivity and welcome.
Words without intent are empty and dangerous. We built togetherness it does not just happen. We create inclusion by effort and energy, not by standing aside and ignoring.
