SEND Leadership Regional Programmes
As part of the delivery support programme for the SEND reforms, the Department for Education have commissioned and subsidised a shorter, regional programme of leadership development for developing leaders who are responsible for delivering the reforms.
Applications are now open for the North East and Yorkshire & Humber cohort
Outline of the Programme
The programme has two two-day residential modules, comprising:
- A detailed focus on leadership, personal style and achieving change
- Exploration of the leadership styles needed to deliver real participation and joint commissioning/integration
- Leading edge practice sessions on key reform policy priorities to develop knowledge of innovative practice
The whole programme is delivered within the context of the SEND reforms, with an emphasis on applying your learning to real-work challenges. Facilitation and presentation will be from skilled NDTi and DBOT personnel who have leadership development and SEND expertise, plus input from other experts in the SEND field, including DfE and parent carer organisations.
Who Can and Should Apply
Applications are invited from SEND managers in local authorities and emerging leaders who have a strategic or operational responsibility for delivering the reforms. Applications are welcomed from individual SEND managers, social care and NHS applicants with responsibility for SEND . All applicants must have a leadership role in delivering the SEND reforms being responsible either for the overall delivery of the reforms and SEND services within the authority, or else reporting to that person with a responsibility for delivering a significant element of the reforms.
The programme is appropriate both for experienced SEND managers wishing to develop their personal leadership knowledge and skills and for recently appointed SEND senior managers who, as well as leadership development, also with to build their knowledge of SEND.
