Harrow Mental Health transformation project
Harrow is a leading area for the roll out of Personal Budgets for people with mental health conditions.
Working with its partner Central North West London (CNWL) NHS Foundation Trust, the London Borough of Harrow wants to further improve the uptake and experience of self-directed support for people with enduring mental health needs. Harrow commissioned the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) to support this work.
In the last few months, NDTi worked to:
- Understand the experience of self-directed support and Personal Budgets of people with mental health problems
- Reflect learning from Harrow’s own experiences and those of others to ensure Harrow’s processes, practices and policies on self-directed support and Personal Budgets enable the best outcomes for people with mental health conditions
- Support professionals to balance risk, safeguarding and choice and control.
To do this, NDTi, the London Borough of Harrow and CNWL worked with a wide range of stakeholders across Harrow, including people with mental health problems, their carers and families, voluntary sector organisations and other local representative organisations across Harrow.
