Change that leads to better lives

Research: annual health checks for people with a learning disability

People with a learning disability often have poorer physical and mental health than people who don’t have a learning disability.

Following on from the news article of 2nd August, Skills for Care is carrying out a short survey to find out why some people with a learning disability are more likely to access a free annual health check than others.

  • They want to hear from people with a learning disability (and family members and carers),
  • GPs and and those that work in GP surgeries (both in surgeries that do and those that don’t offer annual health checks)
  • health and social care providers that support people with a learning disability.

The deadline for responses is 17.00 on Monday 25th November 2019.

The survey asks about your awareness of annual health checks, and what we can do to increase the number of people that access the free checks.
