NDTi Joins Partners in Age Action Alliance and Dementia Action Alliance

Published: 29/09/11

NDTi is a partner in a new, nationwide collaborative launched on the 30th September 2011 to ensure different communities and authorities are preparing for an ageing population, celebrating people’s contributions, promoting positive attitudes and focusing on solutions to some of the challenges involved.

NDTi Joins Partners in Age Action Alliance and Dementia Action Alliance

As the first national initiative of its kind, the Age Action Alliance (www.ageactionalliance.org) aims to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged older people, prevent deprivation in later life and challenge age discrimination. The AAA Declaration (see Related Downloads) sets out the Vision and Aims of the Alliance. NDTi will be an active player in ensuring that older people’s voices and aspirations are at the heart of this new venture. Our commitments include a focus on developing public services designed around people’s needs, aspirations and lives; working with people of all generations in changing attitudes towards age, ageing and older people; promoting social inclusion for older people who need support in their lives; and building the capacity of all older people to be a strong, powerful force for change.

NDTi has also joined the Dementia Action Alliance, made up of over 73 organisations committed to transforming quality of life of people living with dementia and their carers in the UK. Members of the Dementia Action Alliance have signed up to the National Dementia Declaration, developed in partnership with people with dementia and their carers. The declaration outlines the challenges presented by dementia and also some of the outcomes that the Dementia Action Alliance is seeking to achieve for people living with dementia and the people who care for them. NDTi, in common with all members of the Dementia Action Alliance, has developed an Action Plan which outlines our commitment to work towards achieving the outcomes in the National Dementia Declaration. For more information on the Dementia Action Alliance, please visit the website (www.dementiaaction.org.uk). NDTi’s Action Plan can be found here.
