NDTi Appoints New Mental Health Programme Lead

Rich Watts has been appointed as the new Programme Lead for Mental Health. He will take up his role in mid March 2013.

Rich has worked at a national, regional and local level in a successful voluntary sector organisation, in central and local government and in two Britain-wide equality organisations.

His work has particularly covered coproduction and user engagement in social care and health, as well as other areas of public service reform.

Rich comes to NDTi from the Office for Disability Issues as National Lead of the Strengthening Disabled People’s User-Led Organisation programme. He took up the role in July 2011 as a secondment from his role as Director of Essex Coalition of Disabled People (ecdp).

Rich joined ecdp, a User-Led Organisation based in Essex, as a Director in November 2007 and has held responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of ecdp’s activities. Until March 2010, Rich was also on part-time secondment to the Department of Health, working as part of the Putting People First Team.

Rich is a trustee of a learning disability charity working across the south west and London.
