This training is aimed at people working on inclusive research and evaluation, who do not have a traditional research background. For example, people working as peer researchers or community coresearchers.
We can tailor the training to suit a wide range of people including:
- People with a learning disability
- Autistic people
- Young people
- Older people
- People with mental health conditions
Attendees will learn what research and evaluation is and develop the skills to get involved in delivering work in this area.

Who is this training for?
This training is designed to support foundational research and evaluation skills.
It may not be for you if…
- You have done an undergraduate or postgraduate degree with a significant social science research component
- You are looking for a pay-per-place course – the training is designed for groups of people working on research or evaluation together.
- You are not currently involved in research or evaluation work, and don’t plan to be.
Why do this training?
Often people with lived experience might need some extra training and support with project-specific skills outside of their lived experience.
We want to make sure that people with lived experience who are asked to develop and deliver research and/or evaluation work have the chance to develop their own skills and understanding.

Why NDTi?
Our specialist research and evaluation team has a long history of coproducing and codelivering research and evaluation work with autistic people, people with a learning disability, young people, older people, and those with mental health conditions.
We also have vast experience of evaluating training delivered by statutory bodies and community organisations.
This training has been developed over a period of time to help develop the skills needed for some of our own projects. This includes the evaluation of Time to Talk Next Steps, Bristol City Council’s People’s Voice research and the IncludeAge research project run by the University of Dundee.
Travel policy
The training price includes delivery of sessions online or in-person, where the location is within a one-hour reasonable travel distance from our head office in Bath.
We are happy to offer in-person sessions in further locations. These will incur additional costs such as travel expenses and a contribution towards the facilitator’s travel time.
