Days to Communities

A change and innovation programme for day service change makers and community thought leaders.

For decades, services have tried to move away from building based day provision towards genuinely inclusive, community based support.

But progress is often slow, fragile, or reversed when pressure hits.

Days to Communities is a new hybrid programme for organisations who are ready to break that cycle and change building into belonging.

Why this matters

Change keeps stalling not because people lack commitment, but because budgets are tight, cultures are entrenched, families are anxious, staff feel stretched, and “what good looks like” isn’t consistently understood or measured.

This programme gives you the leadership, capacity, evidence and facilitation to move forward with confidence.

What the programme is

A multi‑month, practical, supported change journey for organisations who want to redesign day and community services around belonging, contribution and citizenship.

  • It’s not a training course and not a think piece.
  • It’s for people who want to act, not just agree.
  • It’s for long term sustainable change.

We use a hybrid model of in‑person facilitation, residential learning, peer support and structured online coaching.

It’s all designed to turn your vision into sustained local impact.

What you'll achieve

There’s no set formula because we’ll help you build your vision.

But, we’ll use tried and tested approaches to help you achieve your goals, whatever route your journey takes.

Vision for
change

A clear coproduced vision for change that is rooted in your local context.

Realistic plan

A realistic plan for transitioning away from building-based provision.

People first approach

Approaches that prioritise people’s lives, not timetables and systems that don’t work.

Confidence

Confidence to navigate risk, culture and politics.

Support

Support to redesign, repurpose or transition existing services.

Practical tools

Tools for measuring outcomes and telling a powerful before and after story.

What's included

  • In‑person ‘Vision for Change’ day with onsite facilitation.
  • Two residential learning events to go deep on purpose, risk and sustainability.
  • Six online leadership and planning sessions.
  • Learning labs/action learning sets.
  • A peer community offering challenge, support and solidarity.
  • Practical tools to evidence impact and track change.
  • Free membership of our Day Services Network for a year.

Who should join

Leaders, managers, commissioners and cross‑system partners responsible for reshaping day opportunities in:

  • Learning disability
  • Autism
  • Mental health
  • Dementia
  • Older people’s services

We work across the whole of the UK and parts of Europe.

Ideal participants include commissioners, commissioning managers, service managers, organisational development leads, and provider leadership teams.

Is this you?

  • You’re serious about doing things differently.
  • You’re under pressure, financially, culturally or politically.
  • You want structured support, evidence, challenge and a community of peers.
  • And you want to create better lives, not bigger services.

Why work with us?

We understand your world

We have deep experience of day opportunities and community based support.

We understand the pressures you face, and the aspirations that drive your work.

We're not-for-profit

That means our focus is on impact, not income.

We offer value-for-money  support that builds your capacity and leaves a legacy of skills and knowledge.

Strong track record

We have extensive expertise in leadership development within pressured systems.

Our team has lived experience of supporting and delivering complex change.

We codesign with you

We don’t arrive with a prewritten playbook.

We listen, think, and build solutions together, with you, your teams, and the people and communities you support.

Cost and commitment

This offer is for two places.  You might be two people from the same organisation or a commissioner bringing your local day service leaders with you on your journey.

Core cost for two people: £9,000 + VAT

Additional participants: £1,200 + VAT

We need a minimum of nine organisations (18 participants) for the programme to run. Our work is about impact over income, but we still need to cover our costs.

This is a support programme to help those who are ready for change. We also offer significant, bespoke transformation programmes working with day and community services in local areas.

Are you ready?

Are you ready to invest in sustainable, system level change?

Are you ready to say goodbye to failed pilots and stalled redesigns?

Are you ready to embrace resilience and ownership?
