Change that leads to better lives

Learning Disabilities Conference 2016

This conference will launch the first round of a new set of national and local information about the health and care of people with learning disabilities. The new data on key health indicators are taken from general practice information systems nationally, obtained by a collaboration between Public Health England, NHS England and the Health and Social Care Information Centre.

This conference is particularly aimed at health and social care professionals, public health staff, commissioners, people with a learning disability, their families and carers, researchers and third sector representatives.

The conference will:

  • inform about the new health indicators
  • show how they can be used to argue for improved adjustments to health care for people with learning disabilities locally
  • discuss the opportunities they provide and how future years data could be improved
  • explore how the new data can be used in the annual learning disabilities self-assessment process and monitoring the new learning disabilities plan
