Announcing Advocacy Awareness Week 2020 #AAW20
This year marks our third annual advocacy awareness week and this year more than ever it seems fitting to be spending a dedicated week focusing on raising awareness of the power and impact of independent advocacy in people’s lives. The week gives us time and space to explore and communicate some of the pressing issues facing the advocacy sector and the people we support and represent. This year some of these issues have been highlighted and exacerbated. The Coronavirus pandemic has been signifiacnt for all of us, changing the ways we all work, live, socialise and connect. It’s also changed the ways in which we get support to be healthy and well and to live the lives we want.
Access to independent advocacy has possibly never been as important and the role of advocacy in supporting people to have their voices heard, in addressing inequalities and in upholding rights has in many instances been vital. #AAW20 is a fantastic opportunity to share our stories of success and highlight what needs to change.
How to get involved:
Share our Campaign: #PowerofPartnership #HearMyVoice #AAW20
Here at NDTi we are going to be focusing on the theme, the Power of Partnership – celebrating all that comes with effective partnerships and collaboration - from the work and relationships between advocates and advocacy partners, the impact of effective partnership working and collaborations within the areas we work, as well as championing the greater impact and influence we have a sector when we work together.
We’d love to share your stories about the Power of Partnership and as in previous years, we will be sharing blogs, vlogs, webcasts and more on this theme throughout the week. Do get in touch via email@example.com if you’d like to submit something to be shared.
Share your stories and #AAW20 activities
Whether you’re an advocacy organisation, an advocate, a commissioner, or someone who has benefitted from advocacy we’d love to hear your story. Make Advocacy Awareness Week your own: share your blogs, videos, news stories pictures and case studies online using the hashtag #AAW20 #HearMyVoice
We will be featuring some of your content here as well as adding some videos and guest blogs from organisations who understand and champion the importance of advocacy and hearing people’s voices.
