PEOPLE, LIVES AND COMMUNITIES : Making Inclusion Possible

The NDTi Annual Conference was held on 18th and 19th November at the Bristol Marriot Royal Hotel. This year's theme was 'inclusion'.

The agenda featured five main themes:

  • Community and organisational leadership
  • Person centred approaches to public services
  • Jobs and paid work
  • Housing and home
  • Transition and life chances

Supporting people to be full and equal members of their local communities is at the centre of Government policy, in particular for people with disabilities, mental health problems and for older people. The core aim of the conference was to bring together people, ideas and best practice from local authorities and 'mainstream' public services and the health and social care system to work through the policy agena and the opportunities it brings.

The event was supported by:

  • Equality and Human Rights Commission
  • Joseph Rowntree Foundation
  • National Mental Health Development Unit
  • Society Guardian

Joint Chairs were David Brindle - Society Affairs Editor, The Guardian and Rob Greig - Chief Executive, NDTi.
