Val Jones

Val JonesVal Jones has extensive experience in policy development, service improvement and redesign, gained through work at senior management level in health, social care and the voluntary sector. She has an academic interest in ageing and older people, gaining her MSc in Gerontology from King's College London in 1997. She has applied this knowledge widely in a variety of projects reviewing and redesigning services for older people, particularly at the health and social care interface.

From 2001 to 2003 Val was Director of the London Older People's Service Development Programme at the Department of Health (DH), where she established, directed and managed this major, cross-agency programme of service improvement for London's older people. Twenty nine 'whole systems' projects successfully applied 'collaborative methodology' and improved community services, focusing on techniques for case finding and case management.

The Programme was evaluated externally and produced a final report and video, distributed nationally.
