Tricia Nicoll
Tricia Nicoll started her career as a teacher working in the Special Education System. Realising quickly that this did not fit her values or ideals, she joined Skills for People, an advocacy organisation in Newcastle upon Tyne. She worked first as a volunteer, then as a Training Officer and in 1997 she became the Chief Executive.
In 2002 she joined the newly formed Valuing People Support Team as the North East Regional Advisor and National Lead for Advocacy.
In 2006 Tricia set up the Having a Voice Programme for CSIP, working to support genuine partnership between older and disabled people and services.
As part of this she led the Citizen Leaders work-strand for the Personalisation Team.
Since July 2008 Tricia has worked as an Independent Consultant, focusing on supporting organisations as they work tai implement the personalisation agenda. As a long-term user of mental health services she is committed to growing leadership by disabled people to facilitate genuine co-production.
Tricia and her partner are long-term foster carers to two disabled children and remain personally committed to the inclusion movement.
