Achieving Age Equality in Health and Social Care

Achieving Age Equality in Health and Social Care

We have a particular focus on equality and inclusion for older people who are disadvantaged or excluded from society, maybe because of their need for support, their age, race, disability or gender. All of our work is underpinned by strong values and evidence about “what works” in ensuring that older and disabled people are treated, not as passive recipients of services, but as full and active citizens with assets, gifts, talents and skills.

We are offering a one day workshop which will address these themes, including:

  • What do we mean by age discrimination? Developing a shared understanding of the issues and the uncertainties we face in this area.
  • What does age equality in public service delivery look like?
  • What tools are available to us in order to work towards achieving age equality in local goods and services?
  • How do we measure the effectiveness of what we are doing?
  • Action planning for the future.

This workshop is aimed at those responsible for commissioning and delivering local NHS and adult social care services, particularly those designed with older people and an ageing population in mind. It will also be of interest to members of older people’s groups / fora involved in local service developments; service and team managers; senior practitioners and other professional advisors. Elected members and other strategic leads have also found these sessions helpful in understanding new legislative requirements and implications of the Duty.

We can also offer tailored training and development support on age equality to meet your specific organisational needs.
