People, Lives and Communities: Making Inclusion Possible
A major two day Conference on community inclusion took place on the 18th and 19th of November 2009 in Bristol.
This was a significant and innovative conference where participants explored the community/social inclusion agenda from beyond the traditional ‘client group’ silos’.
Organised in partnership with Centrevents.
The NDTi Annual Conference was held on 18th and 19th November at the Bristol Marriot Royal Hotel. This year's theme was 'inclusion'.
The agenda featured five main themes:
Community and organisational leadership
Person centred approaches to public services
Jobs and paid work
Housing and home
Transition and life chances
Supporting people to be full and equal members of their local communities is at the centre of Government policy, in particular for people with disabilities, mental health problems and for older people. The core aim of the conference was to bring together people, ideas and best practice from local authorities and 'mainstream' public services and the health and social care system to work through the policy agena and the opportunities it brings.
