Steve Strong, Learning Disability Programme Lead

Steve has extensive experience in the NHS, Social Services and the Voluntary Sector.Over the last 20 years much of this has focussed on services for people with learning disabilities.

Steve joined the Valuing People Support Team in 2002. He was the Regional Advisor for the South West and led nationally on issues to do with Housing and Support. From this Team, Steve joined the team working for the Department of Health on piloting the implementation of Individual Budgets where he led for the team on Support Planning and Brokerage. During this period, he was seconded to the Office for Disability Issues to work as a member of the Independent Living Strategy Team.

Steve's work with the Department of Health continued during 2008-2010 as a member of the Personalisation Team focussing on the implementation of the Government policy on User Led Organisations.

Steve began work as the Project Manager for the Housing and Social Inclsion project in September 2010.
