About NDTi
The National Development Team for Inclusion is a not for profit organisation concerned with promoting inclusion and equality for people who risk exclusion and who need support to lead a full life. We have a particular interest in issues around age, disability and mental health. An introduction to the NDTi is given on the attached leaflet (Read more). This leaflet is also available in the easier to read format (Read more).
In undertaking this work, we particularly aim to:
-
Shape and influence policy and public debate
-
Enable a stronger voice of people to be heard
-
Support services to work differently so that they promote inclusive lives
-
Support communities to be welcoming and inclusive.
To achieve this, we have five major programmes of work:
-
Community inclusion – supporting communities to be more inclusive and service organisations to adopt outward looking strategies and practise
-
Person centred approaches to public services – placing the person at the centre of decision making and having choice and control over their life and supports
-
Employment and paid work – real work being a valued option for all citizens
-
Housing and home – ensuring people have their own place to live and seeing an end to institutional service design
-
Transitions and life chances – strategies for ensuring people’s life chances are maximised when experiencing major life changes/events, or they are forced to move between different services on the basis of their age (e.g. child to adulthood and older age).
We also have a number of smaller themes of work including:
-
Families – promoting their valued role as partners in services and communities
-
Commissioning – promoting effective and inclusive planning and the best strategic use of public money
-
People’s voice – working in partnership with the advocacy and user movement
-
Health – supporting the NHS to deliver person centred services
-
Leadership – promoting creative leadership at all levels of the system.
Finally, in order to deliver these things we undertake a number of inter-related activities, specifically:
-
Engagement in national and local policy development
-
Consultancy to organisations and partnerships to achieve change
-
The delivery of training and personal development programmes
-
Undertaking research and evaluation activities
-
Developing resources and tools for organisations to use to improve practice
-
Disseminating good practice through articles and events.
